PRESSURE WAVE ABSORBER

Help your room finally clean up its act.

Your listening room acts like a closed resonant tube from an acoustics standpoint, whose properties are related to the room’s physical dimensions. The large aberrations in frequency response in the bass range in most rooms are the result of the acoustic energy reflecting off the rear wall of the room and interacting with the output of the speaker.

If we could remove the rear wall of the room, most of the problem would go away, restoring a response similar to the intrinsic response of the speaker itself. The Black Hole acoustically removes the rear wall. The Black Hole is an active device that measures incoming acoustic energy at the back of the room and propagates a time-aligned anti-phase energy pattern to provide much flatter and more natural sounding bass at the listener position. Low frequency energy also decays slowly in domestic sized rooms, causing the poor bass articulation and pressure build up in the room. Active pressure absorption reduces decay times by as much as 50%, greatly improving bass quality and voice reproduction as well as soundstage portrayal. See Steven Stone's review in Absolute Sound Issue 228, page 70.
